Back to “The 12”

Despite the pandemic, I feel At One With My Subaru this summer :). Last week I drove to St. Louis to help Madeleine move to an adorable duplex; next week we’re off to South Bend, a whirlwind Drop Off Your Freshman and Drive Home Quickly event at Notre Dame. (Shockingly, Jack is not cut up about this reduced time with me…!)

In the meantime, I’ve found time to work on those 12 paintings, practicing looser and fresher approaches to the brush and palette. Working on these is not unlike the wonderful free exercise zoom classes INOVA is offering to FCPS staff this summer…something to keep agile during this strange time. As I quickly applied some fresh complimentary color strokes to this one, I thought fondly of that painting genius, Wayne Thiebaud, who makes art seem so effortless…at 99! Maybe I just need a few more decades to get what he’s got, right?

Contact me for the original, (8” x 8”, $195), or prints can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/little-zinnias-anne-lewis.html

Be safe at home, or wherever the road may take you this summer.
