Pandemic Postcards
I’ve recently finished two months of virtual art therapy with my classes. One of the things we spoke of often was, “When this is over, I’d like to go to…” which morphed into creating a series of postcards of these places. Our responses ranged from the exotic (“Italy!”) to the mundane (“Browsing IKEA, and then going to the food court”).
It was enjoyable to generate my own list of 8 places I’m so looking forward to going, post-pandemic. Of course, the library was at the top of my list, as well as thrift-shop adventures, a much-needed haircut, a favorite restaurant, and some places here in the U.S. I’d love to visit soon. These are simple to create, and I’ve cross-posted the technique on an art therapy page you can click on in the header above.
I found these to be just what I needed in a difficult time. Our beloved corgi Seamus passed away, in his sleep of old age, on May 31. The act of coloring, which I did with a cheap tin of watercolor paints here, is so very peaceful. The “soft filling in” of spaces allows our minds to calm, to think, to remember. What a great little guy he was…
