just not right...
At the end of September, the Washington Post listed the latest creatures to be declared extinct, along with photos or drawings of those not seen in awhile. Eight of them were native birds of Hawaii. This one, the Molokai Creeper, really caught my eye. What a gorgeous fellow this one was—described as a 5 1/2 inch “ball of flame”. This image, with wings spread, reminds me of 3 year old Jack’s beloved blue sneakers with orange flames—”Shoes with flames, Mommy! Shoes with flames!” I do so love how his generation cares so deeply about the environment, and hope that the Post won’t be publishing lists of extinct species any longer.
The original (5” x 7”, $95), which incorporates a somber marbled paper “branch”, is available through me, or prints can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/molokai-creeper-anne-lewis.html
I hope to pay homage to many of the now extinct flora and fauna on the September extinction list as time goes by.
