A few weeks ago I felt doubly compelled: to have some fun with collage and to revisit those sweet birds. I’ve also vowed to play more with neutral colors this year, so made a pact with my collection of papers to use only neutrals for the background.
Enter the Rose Robin. I do love my red birds, and thanks to Google not recognizing red is not pink, this little guy popped up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any creature so enchanting, minus the fluffy corgi, of course. My student who loves birds and making art about birds as much as I do was shocked I’d gotten through almost 51 years without knowing the Rose Robin existed. I feel a bit cheated, the same feeling I had when I finally tried guacamole and wanted to kick myself for not indulging sooner 😉.
The original is available through me (8” x 8”, $125), or prints can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/rose-robin-2-anne-lewis.html. Fair warning…this little rosy guy got under my skin in such a good way I made three of these mixed media pieces of him in different poses. More soon, along with some St. Lucia oils!
