This canvas has stumped me for awhile. Every time I looked at it’s blank shape, the first image that popped to mind was a bottle of velvety rioja. C’mon…it’s me. One of my students saved all of you from a still life of my 5:00 beverage; she loves birds, and paints gorgeous watercolors of them–with facial expressions! That lovely student and I spent time talking about cool birds not long ago, which reminded me I’d saved an image of this tremendously splashy (and long!) bird, the Bee Eater.
According to the San Diego Zoo, these birds are “fast and fierce as a missile when it comes to securing a meal” and “they can be deeply committed to others”. https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/bee-eater Hmm. Sounds like a certain son I know ;).
The original (4″ x 12″, $110) can be purchased through me, or prints can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/bee-eater-anne-lewis.html
Up next, some playful experiments with pattern, color, and some abstraction in my paintings.
