Inside one of my kitchen cabinets I’ve taped A Few Important Things: re-order details for my running shoes, my laminated Mother’s Prayer (http://margueritekelly.com/?page_id=13#4), and this beautiful little poem by George Eliot:
If I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
Those lovely words bounced around in my mind as I painted the meandering Shenandoah in all its colors. And I thought of a recent beautiful fall day spent in the Shenandoah foothills with dear friend Jeanine, talking for hours and hours and eating a feast of a lunch…a funnel cake for me and fried Oreos for her. We sure know how to live it up! I was also lucky enough to meet one of my favorite artists, Antonia Walker (http://www.antoniawalker.net/), whose gracious manner talking to me for quite awhile was as much a treat as the funnel cake.
The original (8″x16″, $295) is available through me, or prints can be found here https://fineartamerica.com/featured/meandering-shenandoah-anne-lewis.html.
Enjoy the beauty of autumn!
