I spent a recent morning with a wonderful friend I’ve been lucky to know since grad school…back in the early 90s. Lately we’ve been talking about hygge, a Danish concept of “taking pleasure in the presence of gentle, soothing things” as a way of “taking sanctuary in the middle of very real life” (http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/the-year-of-hygge-the-danish-obsession-with-getting-cozy).
This chubby little indigo bunting brings me that kind of simple contentment, right up there with eating cookies in bed, or listening to Motley Crue as I drive home from work with the sunroof open. OK, nobody’s ever called Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx soothing but they do plaster a smile on my face every listen.
Contact me for the original ($95), or prints can be found here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/chubby-indigo-bunting-anne-lewis.html And please enjoy your own gentle, soothing things.
