I’ve long been drawn to landscapes of poppy fields, despite an early fear of Wizard of Oz (those flying monkeys had me peeking under my bed quite a while as a kid).
I’ve painted a few versions of them, but never completely from memory. This is the second of my paintings focused on expressive qualities rather than emphasizing realism. What a joy it is.
The original is available through me (24×24, $325) or prints can be found here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/poppies-anne-lewis.html
I’ve been taking a short break from painting these last couple weeks to focus on Madeleine’s graduation gift (which I’ll post once she receives it). Creating that gift is such a reminder how this expressive painting just opens up so much creativity all-around for me; not just in making things, but in ideas for my classroom and home life too. Thanks again, Janice Hayes-Cha!
