A terrific photographer, Greg Staley, takes photos of local artists’ paintings once a month nearby my home. With the holidays and a lovely bout of pneumonia, I ran out of time to paint something and thought I’d need to skip his January session.
Enter INXS. Seriously! My daughter Clare and I were venturing out for groceries post-pneumonia when I couldn’t believe my ears. My local Safeway was piping INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart” throughout the store. Of course I made Clare listen to the Soundtrack of Mom’s Youth. And then it hit me…to take another Oldie But Goodie to Greg’s session. I painted this years ago as a newbie painter, under the tutelage of Jane McElvany Coonce, a wonderful local artist (http://jmcelvany.com/). Though my brushwork has changed significantly, I still enjoy looking at the colors and composition in this every day as it hangs where we eat our meals.
