Another year has begun, and I’ll have so much more art to share as I’ll be finishing up some small oils devoted to images from our family trip to St. Lucia this summer, some new mixed media birds (everyone’s fave it seems!) and starting a printmaking course soon! So excited about that…but will Mondays ever be long…
Meanwhile, my students have (mostly) jumped in with great enthusiasm for the art process. What would my job be without a few challenges ;)? One thing that’s captured lots of interest–our Art Club which will focus on the Altered Book. Our wonderful librarian sets aside books which otherwise would head to the landfill. We gesso, collage, draw, journal, make extensions and pop-up pages, sometimes to a theme and sometimes spontaneously. It’s a fantastic way to give an old book second life, expressively. Here are a few pages of my “Fun after 50” themed altered book. Enjoy!
