A slew of landscapes are on their way…as yet unseen. I’m soon to be in Spain to see my oldest, Madeleine, who is studying abroad this semester. I am beyond excited to experience some Spanish culture with her, and simply to relax, with a book tucked in my bag and my iPhone camera at the ready. I’m sure I’ll capture loads of beautiful vistas as well as empty glasses of rioja :).
So many of my Friday students are native Spanish speakers, and are often thrilled with the smallest gestures. I helped one of my 4th graders draw a quetzal this fall, the official bird of her native Guatemala, and she loved it so much she asked if we could make another together last week. I thought of her as I painted this vermilion flycatcher on a studious background of collaged words. The original (6″x8″, $95) is available through me, or prints can be found here https://fineartamerica.com/featured/studious-flycatcher-anne-lewis.html
